4.4. Marriage and divorce ratesIn the recent years a considerable growth of the general marriage rates is noticed. It was probably conditioned by the changes in the age structure of population, achievement of the marriage age by quite small cohorts. From the other side, this is conditioned by the population decrease, diminishing the denominator in the calculation of the indicator. Table 4.18
The tendency of the increase of marriages is predetermined as in Russia by the fact that the cohorts of the ‘80th, characterized by high birth rate, achieved the marriage age. The marriages are concluded more actively in urban habitats that is related to the migration of rural youth to the cities for education or in search of a job. Table 4.19
It is difficult to speak about a stable dynamics of divorce rates. At the same time it is to be mentioned that beginning with XXIst century 100 marriages amounts to 50-60 divorces annually that is about twice higher than at the end of ’80th. Table 4.20
The rural family is traditionally less subjected to a divorce. Although the increase of these indicators is evident and occurs more sharply than in urban families. As result there is a certain approaching of indicators. If the number of divorces per 1000 urban population in ‘90th was by 10-15 times higher than among rural inhabitants, now these indicators vary by about 4 times. Table 4.21
