Pension system of the Republic of Moldova: actuary expertise

3.4. Minimal pension and guaranteed minimum

The Law on state social insurance pensions includes such concepts as “guaranteed minimum” and “minimal pension”. The guaranteed minimum is applied to pension calculation for the period preceding the entry into force of this Law, i.e. before January 1, 1999. It is a fixed amount guaranteed by the state to those having a full length of service. For those not meeting this condition the guaranteed minimum is reduced proportionate to the confirmed length of service. The minimal pension is paid to those having the size of their full pension lower than this amount. In any case the minimal pension should exceed by 10 lei the guaranteed minimum.
